While coaching and mentoring are similar there are differences. Coaching is usually focused on one area and is usually identified by the coach’s area of expertise or experience. Some types of coaching are: personal/life, performance, skills, career, and executive. There are social media, video and speaking coaches, etc. the list can go on. Mentors usually enter into a long term relationship and help to develop their mentee over time sharing beneficial relationships and resources.
Christian life coaching adds a spiritual element to a coaching relationship because it takes the entire individual into account; spirit, soul and body. Some coaches are certified while others are not. While certification is nice it’s not necessary.
